You may tell your Arlo system what to do in different situations using modes and rules. When the motion sensor on a given camera is active, for example, you can programme your Arlo system to record a 30-second video and send you an email alert.
How do these Arlo Modes and Arlo Rules Work?
You have complete control over how and when your cameras respond to motion or sound with Arlo modes. For instance, you probably don't want to get a motion alert in the living room while you're performing yoga. Alternatively, you may wish to use a different mode when you're on vacation than when you're out shopping for an hour.
- Armed cameras are set to activate when motion is detected (and sound, if you are using Arlo Ultra, Pro series, Q series, or Go series cameras). Armed cameras automatically capture footage for 10 seconds and send notifications. Sound or motion do not activate disarmed cameras. There are no videos recorded, and no notifications are sent.
- You can tell your Arlo system to enter a mode or modes at the same time every week using scheduling. You can, for example, switch off your internal cameras at night but keep your exterior cameras on the day. Alternatively, you can activate your cameras every weekday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Like scheduling, geofencing allows you to tell your Arlo system when to switch modes. Geofencing is dependent on your GPS-enabled mobile device's location. Your Arlo system switches modes if your phone is more than a set distance from the place you specify. You can, for example, set your system to arm every time you leave the house and have it disarm automatically when you return.
If you want to make a custom mode, you can do so by writing a rule or rules that tell your cameras what to do while it's on. You can also change the settings of an existing mode.
Arlo Device Rules
Device that acts as a trigger. The camera that detects motion or sound is the trigger device.
Trigger. Motion detection, sound detection (on Arlo Ultra, Pro 4, Pro 3, Pro 2, Pro, Q Plus, Q, or Go series cameras), or a combination of the two can be used as triggers. To decrease false alarms, you can modify the camera's motion and sound sensitivity. You may also define up to three activity zones for your Arlo Ultra, Q Plus, and Q cameras to monitor.
Devices. Motion or sound detection on one camera can start video recording on another camera using Arlo Pro series or Arlo Wire-Free systems. For example, you might want your doorbell to start recording when your backyard camera or driveway camera detects motion.
Every gadget that responds to motion or sound has the option of recording video, taking a photo, or doing nothing. You can set the duration of the video recording to anywhere between ten seconds and two minutes. You can activate a siren in response to a trigger if you utilise an Arlo SmartHub, Arlo base station, or Arlo Go series camera.
Notifications. Arlo may send you push notifications, email alerts, or both when a trigger is detected. You can also send email notifications to friends, relatives, pet sitters, or anyone else who needs to know when a camera is triggered.
